10 februari 2023 @ 19:30 21:00

Valentine’s day is just around the corner, and the most gifted present is chocolate. But there are a lot of issues in the chocolate trade, so how can you make a more sustainable choice when buying chocolate? Join our TransitieCinema-evening in collaboration with The Chocolate Shop where you will have the opportunity to not only watch the documentary and ask the experts your questions during the Q&A, but also the possibility to try the various kinds of chocolate offered by The Chocolate Shop.

Take note that for the TransitieCinema Dinner you should buy a ticket at least 48 hours in advance!
If you have a valentine-voucher as winner of last workshop, please send us an e-mail to reserve your dinner spot!

Synopsis

Setting the Bar follows the top craft chocolate makers in the world as they journey through the deep jungles of the Peruvian Amazon in search of rare native cacao varietals that have never been used in chocolate production. Share in the passion and excitement of the chocolate makers as they travel into the unknown, find purpose in the stories of the indigenous cacao farmers, and view first-hand the widespread impacts of deforestation, drug trade, and large agribusinesses on the Amazonian way of life. Join them as they confront the myriad of issues facing the craft chocolate industry today, hearing from people on all sides of the industry.

Setting the Bar uncovers a new era of sustainable chocolate trade: one that protects livelihoods, supports environmental sustainability, educates consumers to make better choices, and also creates award winning chocolate bars!
